Performer vs Entertainer
So this weekend I learned first hand the difference between a performer and an entertainer.
A performer is someone like a stage actor, they have a strict script to say/sing, a set choreography of how to move, and even a set way to look and act. In the performer's world, there is no deviation from that set of rules. For this reason they are not flexible in what they can/are allowed to do. In many cases they have to be told exactly what and how to act differently. There is no thinking on one's own, improvising, or anything else of that sort. There is talent in the sense that they can DO something, but there is a sheer lack of creativity and often passion as well. In essence, a true faker.
An entertainer is someone who can "entertain" an audience, and knows what to do to keep them entertained. Basically everything a performer can't do for one reason or another. An entertainer can change the show to go with what the audience wants/likes. They are flexible and can fill in where a performer can not.
So why is it that the performer can shaft the entertainer at times?
