Comic Con 2009 - Day 1
So the preview night and first full day of Comic Con 09 are over, and what do I have to show for it?
a LOT!!
So first off, on preview night I got to meet the cast of The Guild and I personally shook Felicia Day's hand. That made my whole week right there. ![]()
After that I went over and chatted with Greg Dean from Real Life Coimcs. Found out he still loves BBQ even after living in Lockhart, Texas (the BBQ capital of the world). Both Liz and him were more then eager to talk and share stories.
Next to Greg was the Penny Arcade corner. I say corner because they had 3 booths wrapping all around a corner. Met both Tyco and Gabe and all I can say is they are not joking when they say they look nothing like their comic selves. For starters... one is bald!
Finally on the other side, behind Greg Dean, was Scott Kurtz from PVP. Bought a Skull plushy and got a "fun pack" as well as a cool D&D poster. On the way out I noticed the National Comics Association was down the aisle from him. Plan to go back and see if I could get him started again on his rants about how they won't accept web comic artists.
On the way out I finally found Jeph from Questionable Content. Didn't have time to talk as the hall was closing, but I plan to go back later.
First full day of Comic Con started off great!!.... waited almost an hour for the shuttle bus to the con, then it took almost another hour just to "get" to the con. However, I did get some free stuff. Mostly just some small crap, but I did get one of the nice WB bags with the Watchmen on it. I also got to see John Kricfalusi and found out he really loves fans and doesn't mind stopping in the halls to talk and take pictures. I never realized he also did some music vids for Weird Al and Tenacious D.
Finally my first day ended with the Video Games Live concert. Last year I got some pics, this year I did a 1up and managed to record some decent video. The view does have some guys head in part of it, but the audio seems to be good. The upload speed here at the hotel isn't great, so you all have to wait till I get back to upload them. The concert was great though, and I was excited that they finally added a Chrono Trigger segment at the end. They didn't play my favorite CT songs, but it was still great nonetheless.
Hopefully, tomorrow I am gonna get Adam West's autograph. ![]()
