Holiday Time
So it's the holiday season again. Time to get cozy with the family and buy gifts for people you've forgotten you knew. And for me it also means Birthday Time!! Both mine and my girlfriend's Birthday's are in early December. Plus I am currently taking MCITP certification classes, and we just finished the first section. So I'm extra busy studying for my first cert exam on top of the norm holiday stuff. Yea!
All that aside there are two things I did want to share with everyone.
First off, I recently discovered that the Venture Brothers (a cartoon on Adult Swim) all have twitter accounts, and they use them quite frequently too. A list of all the characters can be found here: http://twitter.com/Triana_Orpheus/venture-brothers And if you do follow them, be sure to retweet the following:
RT @numbertwentyone: #FillionVenture for the win! Hey @JamesUrbaniak! Tell Doc and Jackson @NathanFillion needs to voice in Venture Bros!
If you do, you get to ask @numbertwentyone a personal question that he will answer. Currently they don't have many followers, so be sure to get the word out.
The second thing I wanted to share has a more somber note. One of the web comic's that I follow recently got booted from their host. The artist is Kel McDonald and she currently makes Sorcey 101. I found out about Sorcey 101 while waiting in line to meet Jeph Jacques (Creator of Questionable Content) at San Diego Comic Con. Keenspot (which hosted Sorcey 101) had a booth next to the line. Kel McDonald was there and took the opportunity to pass out fliers and talk up her comic to those of us waiting.
Since I knew I was going to be standing around for awhile, I took the her advice to "check out new comics, because that is what Comic Con is for" and bought the first two chapters of Sorcey 101 to read. Right from the start I was hooked as this was an uniquely different take on the whole werewolves, vampires, and magic, which was something I had been looking for. And I have been reading it ever since.
Now flash forward to the present. Apparently Kel McDonald was in Scott Kurt's ustream channel watching him draw PvP, and mentioned a few gripes she had with Keenspot. As the story goes, this somehow got back to Keenspot and they dropped her the next day. You can read the full write up from Kel McDonald here: http://community.livejournal.com/dannysdomain/240684.html
I bring this up because during this time of year we are supposed to at least attempt be a little bit nicer and try to help out those in need. But bad things will always happen and it just seems to hurt that much more when it happens around x-mess. The least we can do is try not to add to anyones problems, or at best, help out someone who is having trouble.
So this holiday season please try and be a part of the solution and not a part of the problem. And just maybe, even in the smallest way, you will make it just a little bit better for someone else out there.
Happy Holidays
